Dumsor Timetable This Week

Monday: Accra West maintenance (today)
Tuesday: Tema GRIDCo work
Wednesday: Kumasi Asokwa upgrade
Thursday: No planned outage (all areas on)
Friday: Accra East cable work
Weekend: No planned outage (unless fault)

Why Dumsor Happens in 2026

1. Old ECG cables — many from 1970s, need replacement
2. Akosombo Dam low water — less hydro power
3. High demand — Ghana demand now 3,500MW vs supply 3,200MW = deficit
4. GRIDCo transmission loss — 20% power lost in transmission

Unlike 2015 dumsor (12 hours off), 2026 dumsor is 6-8 hours planned.

How to Survive Dumsor Timetable Today

• Power bank 20,000mAh — charge phone 4x

Food: Cook in morning before outage, don’t open fridge during outage
