How to Get Remote AI Job From Ghana

You live in Accra but want to earn $3k-$8k/month working for US company? Possible. Many Ghanaian doing it 2026.

Here’s exact steps.

Step 1: Pick 1 AI Skill (Not 5)

Don’t learn everything. Pick one:

Prompt Engineering (easiest, 3 months)
Data Analysis with AI (4 months)
AI Automation (chatbots) (2 months)
ML Engineering (6-12 months, highest pay)

My recommendation for Ghana: Start with Prompt Engineer or AI Automation — fast to learn, high demand.

Step 2: Build Portfolio (Not CV)

US companies don’t care about your KNUST degree. They care portfolio.

For Prompt Engineer:

Create 10 ChatGPT prompts for real Ghana business (e.g., restaurant in Osu)
Document on GitHub or Notion

For Data Analyst:

Analyze Ghana dataset (e.g., ECG power data, Ghana census)
Show before/after AI

Where to host: GitHub, Behance, personal site richmondbash.com/portfolio style

Step 3: Where to Apply From Ghana

Best platforms that pay to Ghana:

Turing.com — Pays via Wise, many Ghanaian there
Toptal — High pay $40-80/hr
Upwork — Start here, get reviews
LinkedIn Remote — Filter “US remote, worldwide”
Wellfound (AngelList) — Startups hire Africa

Avoid: Platforms that don’t pay to Ghana.

Step 4: CV That Works for US Companies

Ghana CV = 3 pages with photo. US CV = 1 page, no photo, results.

Change:

Before: “I worked at XYZ”
After: “Built AI chatbot that reduced customer wait time 40% for Ghana e-commerce”

Use numbers.

Tools: Use ChatGPT to rewrite CV for US style.

Step 5: Interview – Ghana Time Difference

US is 4-5 hours behind Ghana. They will interview 3pm EST = 8pm Ghana time.

Setup:

Good light, quiet room in Accra (Nii Abeey St level quiet)
Test network — use MTN fibre or Vodafone
Have backup data bundle

Questions they ask:

Tell me about project
How you handle tight deadline?
Why you want remote?

Step 6: Get Paid in Ghana

Best way 2026:

Wise (TransferWise) — Best rate, $7 fee, arrives in 1 day to Ghana bank
Payoneer — Works but higher fee
Deel, Remote.com — Some companies use

Avoid PayPal — high fee for Ghana.

Tax: Ghana tax 2026 — you must file if earning abroad. Keep 10% aside.
